Help RIFA Provide a Hunger-Free Holiday for Our Community
For most of our community, the holiday season is a time of celebration, gathering together with friends and family, and sharing food around the dinner table. Making memories with the ones we love is what makes this time of year so special.
However, for a growing number of families in our community, this season can look much different. Many of the families this program serves are on a fixed income, and with the rising inflation they are forced to cut back somewhere. At RIFA, we believe that each family deserves the opportunity to enjoy a traditional holiday meal.
In partnership with United Way’s Christmas Partners and the Jackson Housing Authority, Hunger-Free Holidays is dedicated to ensuring that families have access to ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and other staple pieces during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. This year, we hope to distribute more than 800 bags to our neighbors in need.
To continue providing this holiday assistance, we need your help! Head to your favorite grocery store and shop for the items listed below if you’d like to make sure that a family gets to have a traditional holiday meal this year. No time to shop? No problem. You can also help provide the holiday meals we all love by donating $33, the cost of one bag, which feeds a family of four.
- 1 – 16 oz. canned ham or turkey breast (or $15 gift card)
- 1 – 6 oz. boxed stuffing
- 2 – cans of yams
- 2 – cans of corm
- 2 – cans of green beans
- 1 – box instant mashed potatoes (or 3 pouches)
- 1 – can of cranberry sauce
- 2 – 8.5 oz. boxes of Jiffy corn muffin mix
- 1 – box brownie mix
- 1 – box of tea bags
This holiday season, RIFA is thankful for your continued support and looks forward to reaching out with the love of Christ to provide physical and spiritual nourishment through these meals.
