Pack the Bus: Join us in the fight against childhood hunger!
On Saturday, August 14th, RIFA will be asking the community to come together to help pack school buses full of needed food items for our Snack Backpack program.
From 9am-4pm, you can find volunteers at the following locations passing out flyers of needed items and accepting donations: Kroger Lynnwood Place (941 North Pkwy), Kroger West Towne Commons (41 Stonebrook Pl), Kroger University (35 W University Pkwy), and Walmart North (2196 Emporium Dr).
As school starts back, the reality is that many kids go home to little or no food on the weekends. To fight this growing need, RIFA provides over 1,300 Snack Backpacks filled with weekend meals and snacks every week throughout various schools in Jackson-Madison County.
As you stop in your local grocery store to do your weekly shopping, add in an extra item or two to truly make a difference in the life a child right here in Jackson. Needed items include the following: Pop-Tarts, Ramen Noodles, Macaroni and Cheese (individual packets/bowls), Popcorn (individually wrapped), Apple Sauce (with foil lids), Ravioli (with pop-tops), Chicken Noodle Soup (with pop-tops), and Oatmeal (single serving packs).
